The results of the online questionnaire – consultation CFP report

The objective of the CFP report to be delivered by the end of 2022 is to address the functioning of the CFP and look at how we can strengthen its implementation. The CFP Regulation sets out that the implementation of the CFP is guided by the principles of good governance, taking into account regional specificities, through a regionalised approach, as well as appropriate involvement of stakeholders at all stages. Dialogue with stakeholders has proven to be essential for achieving the objectives of the CFP and of its market pillar, the Common Market Organisation (CMO), and the Commission believes that such dialogue is equally essential during the consultation phase on this report.

To ensure a maximum of input, the Commission carries out the consultation process in three steps. The first step was an online questionnaire including questions of the CFP covering all the chapters of the CFP Regulation, ending with the topics raised in the Mission letter to Commissioner Sinkevičius (social dimension, climate adaptation and clean oceans).

Here, we would like to share with you the report analysis of the contributions by stakeholders on the online questionnaire carried out by FAMENET. The report is vast and comprehensive. The survey design, wherein respondents were allowed to submit long-form written responses to every question made it difficult to succinctly summarise all the responses and gather meaningful statistics from text replies, since respondents’ answers to most questions frequently included information falling outside of the scope of the question at hand. However, it was our intention to gather as much as possible at the first step of the consultation process – as these will be able to be further crystalized in the upcoming second step of the consultation process: the in[1]depth discussions at regional level in the Member States Regional Groups.

Finally, to close the consultation process following the results of both CFP and CMO online questionnaires and the in-depth CFP discussions at the regional level, we aim to organise a stakeholder event on Friday 10 June 2022.
